In addition to the first official images, Entertainment Weekly has revealed more details for Marvel's Captain America: The First Avenger including what the bookends will consist of, the main plot, and more. Check it Out!

While they gracefully gave our first look at Marvel's much-anticipated Captain America: The First Avenger, via images, Entertainment Weekly dropped a few additional details to the Joe Johnston-directed WW2 adventure. And thanks to Slash Film, you can check out those details below.

"We all know the story of Captain America – a scrawny solider named Steve Rodgers undergoes an experiment and becomes a superman. Since Evans got all bulked up for the role, in the scenes where he is scrawny, Johnston will use “clever camera angles, costume trickery and special effects that will digitally reduce Evans’ body or even put his face on a skinny actor”"

"The main plot features “Captain America as the leader of a team of elite soldiers from various countries , known in the comic books as the Howling Commandos.” And that mission will certainly deal with the Red Skull (Weaving), Hitler’s head of weaponry and the Tesseract, aka, the Cosmic Cube."

"Since Captain America: The First Avenger is the last Marvel film before Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, it has to set up that film. But it’s set several decades in the past. So, the film will begin and end with the classic frozen in ice storyline. Prologue and epilogue style."

"The classic comic book costume with the wings on the head and stuff WILL appear in the movie. Evans wears it during one scene where he’s used as a tool for propaganda. He hates it though and afterwards goes to Howard Stark of Stark Industries to help him build the new, more advanced suit that’s in most of the film."

With confirmation of the "classic frozen" bookends, we can only assume they'll also make up most of Samuel l. Jackson's screen time, donning the eye patch as Nick Fury. The only thing we don't know is how Fury would know much about the 40s. I find it hard to believe they'll have Samuel l. Jackson around during those time. And they may use Tommy Lee Jones' "Chester Philips" role as the story teller; maybe. What do you think?

Anyhow, Captain America: The First Avenger hits theaters July 22, next year!

Captain America is DEAD! DEAD I SAY!!!

But srsly, I remember reading comics about him when I was younger (they were not written then, they were my dad and my uncles that were left at my grandparents). He was always a cool superhero. I hope the movie does him justice.

Director commetnary of the pictures from Entertainment Weekly.

Quote:
Last week Entertainment Weekly's name burned through the Internet with its exclusive imagery from Captain America. This week, CBM's SciFi Media Zone exclusively presents director Joe Johnston's comments on those images.
JOE JOHNSTON: This is a frame grab from the rebirth scene, a moment after Steve steps out of the rebirth pod. He's a little dazed by the transformation process and a bit wobbly on his feet, but looking for all the world like a super-hero. Chris worked out for days for the shot of the pod opening and revealing his new self, and the iron pumping really paid off.
JOE JOHNSTON: This shot shows the rebirth pod with Steve inside. Erskine is about to begin the procedure.
JOE JOHNSTON: Red Skull about to evaporate a trio of Nazis who have come to confiscate his technology to serve the Reich. Hugo Weaving was really the only choice for Red Skull. Hugo is a chameleon as an actor. He's played so many incredibly versatile roles, from the LORD OF THE RINGS films, MATRIX, PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT. He's never failed to create a multi-layered and complex character. In my own experience with him on THE WOLFMAN, he took a part that was much less significant and inspired us to develop the character into a pivotal role. I wanted Hugo to play Red Skull to SEE what he would bring to the character. He's one of those actors you don't want to look away from."
JOE JOHNSTON: A gang of Hydra bikers intent on chasing down Steve on his custom Stark-modified Harley Davidson.
JOE JOHNSTON: Hayley Atwell and Chris Evans are seen in uniform in Allied Headquarters, a fantastic multi-room set constructed at Longcross Studios, an ex-tank factory outside of London.
JOE JOHNSTON: The submarine was built by Paul Corbould's team of special effects technicians. It can actually dive and resurface, travels at 12 knots, has a watertight compartment for the actor, Richard Armitage, who plays a very convincingly evil spy, Heinz Kruger.
JOE JOHNSTON: The last picture is a shot of Chris, returning from Steve Roger's first mission, when we goes AWOL to rescue his pal, Bucky Barnes.

So there we go, Nazis.
